Aerospace engineering - Wikipedia Aerospace engineering - Wikipedia
Aerospace engineering is the primary field of engineering concerned with the development of aircraft and spacecraft. It has two major and overlapping branches: Aeronautical engineering and Astronautical Engineering.

Aeronautical Engineering Personal Statement

I am grateful for my time at salford and to all the experienced academic and technical staff who have contributed to my success in the aerospace industry to date. I aspire to follow in the footsteps of adrian newey, and am eagerly taking part in the f1 in schools competition to progress my understanding of aerodynamics and educate me about the complexities of this field. I have always sought to further my knowledge and understanding of how and why things work to challenge the restraints of both modern pioneering and myself.

Final year project to design and manufacture a wind turbine blade made of carbon fibre has been the best experience and it has given me essential manufacturing and analytical skills necessary to become a successful engineer. You will study the interactive nature of aircraft design, including business and commercial influences, and be able to report outcomes effectively. My enthusiasm for driving led me to work towards membership of the institute of advanced motorists, exercising my perception and judgement.

I have innate technical understanding, developed a working website for my karate club allowing the instructor to save time on administration, taught myself microsoft access to enhance a school project, and have had valuable experience with 3d modelling through cadcamcfd training. Aeronautical engineering can be studied with an optional industrial placement year between levels 5 and 6, which you arrange with our support. Assessment will either be through a review of prior learning or through a formal test.

It will enable you to tackle more advanced engineering problems. My highlight has to be the flight test course at cranfield. Your tutor will be able to advise you as to the modules you will study on or before the start of the programme.

I have dedicated time to improving my engineering knowledge, and taken the initiative in grabbing any opportunity to nurture my skills and ambition. Skills in handing thermodynamic concepts enabling the definition and analysis of thermodynamic systems are vitally important to the mechanical engineer. Typical laboratory sessions would include studying the effects of damping and short period oscillation analysis, forced vibration due to rotating imbalance, and understanding the design and performance of proportional and integral controllers.

The degree programme was well structured and helped me develop all the essential skills, competencies and knowledge needed to start my career. I felt motivated to put myself forward after viewing the documentary series engineering connections, specifically about formula one. Although this course does not require an atas if you decide to progress to the meng or the msc element of this programme you will be required to obtain an atas in order to register for that course. Both places are a stones throw away from university. Topics and concepts covered in this module include fluid mechanics, boundary layer theory, sources of drag in particular aircraft drag, thin aerofoil theory, lifting line theory as it applies to the aerodynamic analysis of unswept wings in low speed flow and the apparatus used and techniques employed        in        wind tunnel testing.

Aeronautics - Wikipedia

Aeronautics is the science or art involved with the study, design, and manufacturing of air flight capable machines, and the techniques of operating aircraft and rockets within the atmosphere.
